Hepatitis is a liver disease, which is caused due to viral infection. Inflammation of the liver occurs due to hepatitis. These are of 5 types, Hepatitis A, B, C, D and E.

Millions of people become victims of hepatitis B and C every year. Hepatitis is a serious disease and that is why on 28 July every year World Hepatitis Day is celebrated to increase awareness among people about hepatitis. Young children are vaccinated against hepatitis right after birth, so that they can avoid this deadly disease.

How is hepatitis spread? 

Hepatitis refers to inflammation in an organ that processes nutrients, filters blood, and fights infection. That is, this organ is the liver. Inflammation in the liver is called hepatitis. When there is inflammation or damage to the liver, liver function can be affected. Heavy drinking, toxins, certain medications and certain medical conditions can lead to hepatitis.

Hepatitis is usually started by consumption of dirty water and food. Hepatitis A, E infection begins with contaminated water and contaminated food. Apart from this, hepatitis starts spreading rapidly among people who defecate in the open, do not wash hands and clean the sewer etc. At the same time, hepatitis-B and C are caused by re-injecting the injection given to an infected person. Transfusion of blood from a person infected with Hepatitis B can also spread the infection. Hepatitis B and C can also be spread by having sex with an infected person. When infected with hepatitis, the patient's liver first starts to malfunction. Upon the onset of infection, the patient's liver begins to swell and gradually the liver begins to deteriorate.
